Frequently Asked Questions
The cost of construction materials and labor always fluctuates, which is why it’s important to obtain preliminary pricing specific to the project and the building site. While we advocate for using ICF, we respect personal budgets and choices. A double wood wall construction is our second choice for the exterior envelope of your new house.
That may be true, but if they don’t have a license to build from us, it’s illegal.
A license to build gives you the right to use the drawings to construct the project, while the design itself is protected by copyright as intellectual property. The drawings are simply the tool - an “instrument of service” - that we use to communicate how to bring that design to life.
The One-Time License to Build will allows you to construct the proposed design one time. After you sign our Standard Terms and Conditions and submit payment, we will issue the Construction Documents for the project along with the license to build.
The PDF files will typically be emailed within 3 to 5 business days, and we can also print and ship hard copies for an additional fee.
Our drawings are “instruments of service” and are worth far more than the cost of a single-build license. We’re happy to modify our design to fit your specific needs and property; however, we take great pride in the level of detail and care that goes into crafting every floor plan, elevation, and detail. We provide our design services for the purpose of building a project, not for selling the technical “instrument of service,” such as a CAD or a Revit file.
Yes! We designed the ELSI HOUSE to be easily modified and adjusted. To get started, reach out to us with your ideas, and we’ll provide an estimate for the modifications based on the complexity of the adjustments required.
Our Construction Drawing Set includes everything your builder needs to obtain a permit and get started: general information and specifications, foundation and roof plans, floor plans, elevations, wall sections, details, structural drawings, window and door schedules, and exterior 3D views.
Interior design drawings, detailed kitchen design, finish selections, and electrical plans. We also don’t include plumbing or mechanical diagrams, as those are typically provided by subcontractors and coordinated through your builder. We are happy to provide all of the above as Additional Services.
