How is this concept unique?

A typical American house usually starts with a single rectangle as a floor plan. While this may seem efficient, it can be challenging to allow light and air to reach all spaces. Dark hallways, and excessive circulation are a side effect of that approach.

The ELSI floor plan divides the functions of a house into components and breaks them up into modules that capture daylight and allow for cross-ventilation, while limiting the circulation space to a minimum.
